A contract awarded as part of a broader TSA automation initiative resulted in the development of next-generation security screening systems by leveraging 3D deep learning-based methods.
The system is uniquely developed to detect critical threats in luggage and containers, targeting the automatic detection of assembled and disassembled items, such as grenades, explosives, guns, etc.
Detection Ability: The system displays threats in bounding boxes and with a heatmap to classify and localize items of interest. Full-resolution 3D CT scans can be processed in under 3 seconds. The platform is being deployed & tested and may greatly increase traveler throughput and safety at large commercial transportation hubs and reduce the burden on human labor.
