about Tania

Tania Kong, Ph.D., is a data scientist at SFL Scientific and currently specializes in developing ML tools that are interpretable and actionable, allowing for convergence checks with expert domain knowledge to achieve automation and operational goals of better prediction capabilities. She helps clients develop new machine learning methods based on both traditional and neural network architectures. Her work experience at SFL Scientific has spanned the full data science spectrum from exploratory data analysis to production-environment model deployment for a broad range of clients across multiple engineering and industry domains.

Tania earned her Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in Cognitive Neuroscience, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She developed algorithmic systems using multi-modal brain imaging to investigate neural network function and arterial mechanisms associated with age-related cognitive decline. Her interdisciplinary work was published in high impact Psychology, Neuroscience, and Psychophysiology journals and conferences. Tania also has experience in experimental research using a brain-computer interface, incorporating statistical and ML/AI methods on electrophysiology data to achieve real-time insights on human performance.
