Jie Yu, PhD
Jie Yu, Ph.D., is a data scientist at SFL Scientific and earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Paris-Sud XI and Nanjing University in China in the field of experimental high energy physics. He acquired years of data analysis and big data experience working at ATLAS, one of the four major experiments at CERN at the Large Hadron Collider, making major contributions to various physics projects using state of the art and statistics methods. At CERN, he had worked on top-quark pair cross-section measurements, Higgs Boson to bottom-quark pair search, bottom-quark identification, and misidentification calibrations, presenting his research at five international conferences and collaborating with researchers across the globe.
Prior to joining SFL Scientific as a data scientist, Jie worked in a biotech startup company as one of the few data scientists to develop their AI pipelines. Jie helps clients at every part of the machine learning journey, including developing data analysis pipelines, including data calibration, EDA, ML modeling, and performing validation and quality control in-field. Jie is focused on building analytical tools to meet emerging and maturing client’s needs, expanding his skillset with DevOps and MLOps services, NVIDIA and AWS deployment tools, building novel transformer-based (BERT) models, and helping improve data strategy at the executive level.
