Senior Data Scientist
Ahmad Osman, Ph.D., is a senior data scientist at SFL Scientific and currently specializes in data analytics, computer vision, NLP, and human-machine interface (HMI). Ahmad earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut where he specialized in machine learning and signal processing to understand the neural encoding of the auditory cortex in the human brain. Ahmad’s research was funded by notable organizations such as the DOE, ARPA-E, DARPA, NSF, NIH, and the US NAVY, generating over twenty peer-reviewed publications in journals of Neuroscience and Neurophysiology and resulting in five patents.
Prior to joining SFL Scientific, Ahmad was a Senior Research Engineer with a specialization in Data Science at Raytheon Technologies Research Center. He has worked on a variety of projects contributing his expertise as a data scientist, researcher, developer, and project leader to ensure the successful completion of AI and ML systems. Notable projects include automated visual inspections for jet engine parts using robots and computer vision for Pratt and Whitney, electric gird cyber security anomaly detection for DOE, assessing the feasibility of using computer mediated communication technologies leveraging NLP for ARPA-E and pilot monitoring systems using computer vision for Collins Aerospace.
